The University of Iowa has not yet adopted a technical standard for IT Privacy. Any data protected by law, regulation or contract is subject to the requirements specified therein. Where no specific legal requirement applies, the Fair Information Practice Principles (FIPPs) can be used as a guide to assuring privacy. Some good sources of information about FIPPs include:
